Yup, I DARED it...i actually went and saw Karzzz in a movie theatre. Now, I profess..i am no HR fan, infact nothing can be more to the contrary! So when I told a couple of my colleagues yest that I am actually gonna watch the movie, everybody thought i had Finally lost it, COMPLETELY! But the whole credit goes to my friend V...He was the guy who managed to convince 11 (seemingly!) sane people to actually go and watch Himesh Reshammiya's cost cutting exercise (well, he himself was the hero, singer and music director..3 at the price of 1!) Vaise I went, kyuki mera bet laga tha V ke saath...ke if I don't enjoy the movie, i could wring his neck..how could I have given up such a golden oppurtunity? :)
Yeah, coming back to the movie...the plot, characters, antiquated dialogues of the Original Karz remain the same..the scene has just shifted from India to the exotic locales of Cape Town and Nigeria...Pity though, the same couldn't be said about the songs...I mean just imagine the 'Om Shanti Om' song going something like ' Shamon Seher mera Rom Rom; kare Hari Om, Hari Om' and u will get the drift....
So, u have Dino Morea killed by his newly-wed wife Urmila (she looks really gorgeous!) and reborn 26 yrs later (there is some confusion over this statistic)... as the crooning rockstar Monty, apno dikro Himes...making the goras swoon and the gals faint, (literally!) to his songs in Cape Town (poor Dino, i mean if he really knew that he was gonna be reborn as HR, i think he would have preferred not to die). Nyways the plot proceeds wth HR the gr8, falling in love wth a gal (the heroine looks reaaally dumb) and proposing to her by singing from a helicopter (nonetheless!) Suddenly he remembers his pichla janam and also the fact that he had a mother and a sister (scope for corny dialogues..sample this:)
HR: 'Maa, mein aa gaya hu ...'
Mother: 'Mera beta aa gaya hai...abb main chain se so sakti hu'
Audience: 'What the hell!!!!!!!'
But the ULTIMATE dialogue of the movie is by a character-named Julie, a bikini-clad babe, going to HR and crooning: 'Hi, handsome!'. I almost fell out of my chair, laughing over this one! Wait a minute, just remembered another gem...HR's friend meeting him supposedly after a long time and asking, 'Dude, where's ur TOPI?'
Okie..Yeah..the plot again...so after discovering that he was actually killed by his wife, HR now goes on a revenge-taking spree...In between, u have Danny as the effable Kabir Chacha (played by Pran in the original) supported by two sidekicks who keep on repeating inane dialogues from famous Hindi movies...And boy HR actually, has guts! In one scene, the characters spout a dialogue from his earlier flick Aapka Suroor and credit the dialogue saying "Aapka Suroor, 2006, Himesh Reshammiya, SUPER-HIT" Go get a life, Kid!
But the ultimate scene in the movie has to be its climax; damn what a scene! Abhinav Bindra beware, u have a serious new competitor in Urmila...i mean can u imagine anybody driving a plane with one hand and shooting at a person running on the ground, SIMULTANEOUSLY and actually managing to hit the target, not once but thrice! Hats-off! And not to leave HR behind...he actually takes a piece of his torn T-shirt and manages to burn-down Urmila's plane using that...In another shot, he actually kicks a villian after jumping 60 ft in the air. Marvel of physics, boss! (P.S. I seriously think Rajnikant would have been really proud of HR)
So therein ends a great movie...Rishi Kapoor would commit suicide if he ever saw this movie. And as far as my fore-mentioned bet with V goes, he escaped on the grounds of technicality: the bet was that I would wring his neck, if I didn't enjoy the movie..unfortunately no mention of 'not liking' the movie. To be fair, we THOROUGHLY enjoyed Karzzz; rather we enjoyed passing comments on everything! I can't think of a movie wherein i have laughed so much (except maybe, Tashan). And for that matter..its complete Paisa-vasool!!
[P.S: For Vvvv (KarZzz ishtyle)...yeaaahhhh, I came up wth my review first...lemme c, how u will match this on ur blog! :) ]

Follow Thy Dreams...
"I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.”
These words of William Butler Yeats always put me in a melancholic mood. When we are down and out; when we become extremely vulnerable with our dealings with the world, it is the dream of something to achieve, which keeps us alive; egging us to move ahead in life. Once we get over the initial fear of the unknown, we gradually become accustomed to follow the only course of action available to us: follow our dreams. Having courage to dreaming what we want in an extremely unenviable position, is the only way of showing our trust in God. Something which I believe in a lot : 'The magic of dreams'.
But then, these lines question us...When do we feel safe to capitulate these dreams to another? To give others a power of walking on them- knowing this can make or break our life. Is it really worth giving others the power to do so? Or should your own dreams be something kept to yourself- protected & nourished in the embers of your heart, lest they are invaded, ransacked and made to wilt? And if indeed it has to be given to others, how do we recognise the people who will nurture our dreams for us?
When do we confidently say, “I have spread my dreams under your feet” knowing that that “other” will tread softly upon them?
